Supporting economic and social development in the communities where we operate has been one of ENEVA commitments.
In São Gonçalo do Amarante
(CE), where the company is building the Pecém I
and Pecém II
power plants, three actions are currently in progress towards this goal. Namely:Skills training
– to take advantage of the local workforce in building these projects, training is provided including industrial mechanics technicians, industrial welding, and construction craftsman.
Environmental education – dissemination of technical and legal knowledge on the environmental area, focusing on the power generation business. The action lasted until May 2011 and reached 160 teachers and managers from public schools. These will act as multipliers, raising awareness focusing on 30,000 residents.
Urban Infrastructure Adequacy – aimed at reducing impacts on health, sanitation and education by Pecém I and Pecém II works. The project involved 4,200 direct beneficiaries and 45,000 indirect beneficiaries.
In addition to fulfilling all such direct responsibilities, ENEVA has voluntary social initiatives in the region. The company made donations towards the purchase of equipment for the Pediatric Cancer Center, built by Associação Peter Pan
in Fortaleza (CE).
The unit serve children and adolescents from different Ceará state municipalities and provide 71 beds for intensive care, hospitalization and chemotherapy, plus doctors' offices, playroom and social projects engaging patients' relatives.
